20 April 2014MAPLETON, Iowa | John H. Prell, 67, of Lubbock, Texas, formerly of Mapleton, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2014.
There will be no services at this time. Burial will be in Center Cemetery, Castana, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Combest Family Funeral Home in Lubbock.
John was born on May 18, 1946, in Mapleton, and graduated from Maple Valley High School. He then entered the U.S. Air Force, where he served in Vietnam. After 20 years of service, he retired. In May 1979, he married Carla Fromm. At the time of his death, he owned and operated Prell's Small Engine Repair Service.
He is survived by his children, Stacia (Willy) Sterling, and Bo (Whitney) Prell, both of Lubbock; ex-wife, Carla Prell of Smyer, Texas; and brothers, Larry and Gary Prell of Iowa. He was blessed with three grandchildren, Garry, Brailey, and Emma.
John was preceded in death by his parents; and five siblings.
