Frances Barnes, 88, Onawa, Iowa died Monday, March 12, 2007 at Elmwood Care Centre, Onawa, Iowa.

Frances was born November 17, 1918 at Battle Creek, Michigan to Irma Putnum. She graduated at Union City, Michigan.

Frances and Leon A. Barnes were united in marriage in the mid 1930's. The couple spent many years in California and Michigan before retiring and moving to Onawa in the early 1970's. Leon died May 31, 1988 at Onawa.

Survivors include two daughters, Helen Wilson of Onawa and Janet and her husband Ron Widner of Lorida, FL; four grandchildren, Steven (Karen) Wilson of Dallas, TX, Bill (Kathy) Wilson of Onawa, Bobbie (Greg) Carpenter of Onawa and Marcus Gilroy of Lorida and nine great grandchildren, Katie, Jeni, Rachel, Matthew and Christopher Wilson, Jed, Nate and Kayli Jo Carpenter and Becky Gilroy.

In addition to her husband, Leon, she was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two sisters and a grandson.

Funeral services were 2:00 p.m. Friday March 16, 2007 at Rush Family Chapel, Onawa with Connie King officiating.

Music selections were "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace". Burial was in Onawa cemetery. Visitation was one hour prior to the service time.

Casket bearers were Greg Carpenter and Steve, Bill and Matt Wilson.
