HELEN HICKS OLIVER HANNA

Helen Hicks Oliver Hanna, 71, died April 14, 1987, in a Woodland, California convalescent hospital. Helen, the daughter of James Edward Hicks and Goldie Maude (Pounds) Hicks, was born in Missouri Valley, Iowa, on July 18, 1915. She was a resident of El Sobrante, California, for 15 years before moving to Woodland one month before her death.

Mrs. Hanna had worked as a food supervisor and buyer for the Army and Air Force Exchange Services, retiring after 23 years. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the El Sobrante Senior Citizens, and the Brown Baggers, a senior group.

Helen Alitha Hicks married Wayne L. Oliver on April 11, 1931, at Denison, Iowa. To this union five children were born: James Everett; Eugene Wayne, Jacqueline Ann; Marlene Joy; and Charles Alan. Helen and Wayne lived in the Onawa area for about 10 years before moving to California.

Helen married John Hanna on May 2, 1953. They had no children.

Helen is survived by daughter, Marlene Billingsley, of Ben Lomond, Calif.; three sons, James Oliver of Woodland, Eugene Oliver of Somerset, Calif. and Charles Oliver of Reno, Nev.; three sisters, Georgia Roden of Redding, Calif., Ruby Bell of Auburn, Calif. and Vivian Taylor of Missouri Valley, Ia.; 20 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and daughter, Jacqueline Neumaier of San Anselmo, Calif.

Graveside services were held April 17 at Monument Hill Cemetery in Woodland.
