BRENTON “B. C.” FRY

Brenton, “B. C.” fry, 72, Sloan, Iowa, died Thursday, April 30, 1987, at his residence in Sloan following a brief illness.

He was born January 27, 1915, in Williamstown, Missouri, to Vernie and Lola (Clifton) Fry. He attended school in Wyakonda, Missouri, and in 1936 he started driving trucks out of Independence, Iowa. He received a 13-year safety award from the National Safety Council of Chicago.

His tractor was featured as “Tractor of the Month” in the September 1963 issue of “OVERDRIVE”.

In 1969, he moved to Sloan where he served as a police officer for several years. In 1976, he opened a welding shop in Sloan, which he later sold. On August 18, 1979, he married Brenda K. Spradlin and the couple resided in Sloan.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda; one daughter, Tracey, at home; six sons, Tony at home, James of Omaha, Bob of Laurie, Mo., Jack of Phoenix, Ariz., Rocklin of Las Vegas, Nev., and Bill of Chanhassen, Minn.; his father, Vernie of Kahoka, Mo.; two sisters, Mrs. Edwin (Onetta) Dray of Lebanon, Mo., and Mrs. Raymond (Dorothy) Fountain of Columbia, Mo.; three brothers, William of Kahoka, Mo., Cecil of Des Moines and Roy of Osage Beach, Mo.; several grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lola; one son, Terry; and one brother, Kenneth.

Services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 4, 1987, at the Evangelical Covenant Church at Albaton with Rev. Russell Sizemore officiating. Mrs. Earl Miller, the pianist, accompanied Mrs. Ronald Ernst, the soloist, in the selections “In the Garden” and “How Great Thou Art”.

Bearers were Les Rolfes, Dale Rysdam, Bill Kirk, Gordon Copple, Allen Copple and Guy Ford.

Interment was in the Sloan Cemetery with arrangements by the Wood Funeral Home, Sloan, Iowa.
