RICHARD W. ELIASON

Richard W. Eliason, 65, of Sloan, Iowa, died on February 10, 1987, in St. Luke’s Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa, following a long illness.

He was born at Clay Center, Nebraska, on December 22, 1921, the son of Emil and Ida (Deming) Eliason. He was raised at Blencoe, Iowa, and graduated from the Blencoe High School. He married Lucille “Oudy” Richardson, May 9, 1944, in Sioux City. He operated a body shop in Sutton, Nebraska, with his twin brother and the last 20 years owned and operated the Highway Tap at Sloan. He was an Air Force Veteran of World War II.

He was a member of the United Congregational Church of Christ at Sloan and the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Oudy, of Sloan; a son, Rick Eliason of Dallas, Texas; a daughter, Becky Hubert of Sergeant Bluff; four sisters, Mrs. Frank (Dorothy) Crawford of Onawa; Mrs. Roscoe (Helen) Burke of Blencoe; Mrs. Gordon (Marion) Thompson, of Webster, N. Y.; and Mrs. Frank (Marjorie) Krisl of Irwin, Mo.; his twin brother, John Edward (Jack) of Sutton, Nebr. and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 13, 1987, at the United Congregational Church of Christ in Sloan with Rev. Arthur G. Hermanson and Louise Esbjornson, Chaplain, St. Luke’s Medical Center, officiating. The organist was Mrs. Wilbur Ray and the soloist, Margret Hubert sang, “One Day At A Time” and “Just A Closer Walk With Thee”. The congregation sang “How Great Thou Art”.

Casket bearers were Fred Linscott, Virgil Parsley, Jerry Roarson, Wilbur Ray, Jon Roarson and Steven Mareau.

Interment was in the Whiting City Cemetery, Whiting, Iowa, with arrangements by Wood Funeral Home, Sloan, Iowa.
