Kingsley, Iowa – Jo-Ann M. Dunlap, 82, of Kingsley passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at the Kingsley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Monday December 12, 2011 at the Johnson - Earnest Funeral Home in Kingsley. A private family burial will take place at a later date. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home with the family present to greet friends at 1:00 p.m.
Jo-Ann Malvin Dunlap was born on September 22, 1929 in Oberlin, Ohio, the daughter of Frank and Rose (Juhasz) Vargo. She attended school in Amherst, Ohio and worked at a dry cleaners following her education.
On January 28, 1950 Jo-Ann and Joseph Dunlap were united in marriage at Lorain, Ohio. The couple lived in several places in the United States including Branson, Missouri and Minot, North Dakota before settling in Onawa, Iowa. They lived in Onawa for over 30 years before moving to Kingsley, Iowa in 2004.
Jo-Ann liked singing and playing cards. Her family enjoyed her good cooking. She and Joe participated in square dancing while living in Branson.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Joe Dunlap of Kingsley, IA; her children Rose "Gypsy" Ball of Stillwater, OK, Lucille Marie Collins of Onawa, IA, Linda Louise (John) Althoff of Onawa, IA, Raymond Oliver (Teresa) Dunlap of Monticello, WI, Jean Ann (Forrest) Hall of Stillwater, OK, Carol Jean (Mike) Schweitzer of Winthrop, IA, Hope Janet Hundley of Camanche, IA and Joseph (Karen) Dunlap Jr. of Kingsley, IA; 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; three sisters Mary Kiss of Columbus, OH, Vilma Putnocky of Marion, NC and Shirley (Gerald) Mowrey of Lorain, OH.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Priscilla Harman and Olga Barnhardt; brothers Frank, Joseph and Steve Vargo
