Albert Whilheim Christiansen, son of Anton and Minnie Christiansen, was born October 23, 1889 in Soldier Township and died Thursday, July 23, 1970 at Battle Creek, Iowa having reached the age of 80 years, and 9 months.
He lived with his parents near Charter Oak and later moved to Atkinson, Nebraska. Mr. Christiansen then went to Wyoming where he did carpenter work. He came to Mapleton in 1911 and farmed with his brother Ben Christiansen. On November 3,1915 he was married to Alwine Schneekloth in Soldier Township. In 1945 they moved into the town of Mapleton where he did carpenter work for the Haubrich Lumber Company until his retirement.
He was a member of the United Church of Christ at Mapleton.
Survivors include his wife, Alwine; two daughters, Mrs. Art (Alvera) Gosch of Battle Creek and Mrs. Floyd (Alberta) Marsh of Mapleton; four brothers, Ben and Julius Christiansen both of Mapleton, Henry of Deloit and Lou of Denison; one sister, Mrs. Lena Meyer of Lake View, Iowa; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, one sister and two brothers.
Services were held Saturday, July 25, 1970 a t 2:30 p.m. at the United Church of Christ at Mapleton, Iowa with Rev. Henry Held officiating. Burial was in Heisler Cemetery at Mapleton.
Pallbearers were Robert Christiansen, Herman Schneekloth, Gail Gosch, Elmer Meyer, Frank Schrunk and Gregg Marsh.
