Joseph M. Thomas was born November 8, 1903 at Mapleton and died at his home north of Smithland from a heart attack on October 15, 1969. He lived in the Mapleton community and moved to the Smithland Community with his parents. In addition to farming he was employed by the Westendorf Mfg. Co. in Smithland.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by several cousins.

Funeral services were held Friday morning at 9 a m, at the Walter Funeral Home in Mapleton with burial at the Heisler Cemetery near Mapleton.
