Monday afternoon, April 1, 1901, Barney Snyder, at his rooms at the home of Mrs. Bridges, in Mapleton, la, of Brights disease, aged 82 years.

Deceased was born in Adams County. Pa. in 1819 and was the father of nine children, eight of whom are still living, Mr. Albert Snyder, Charter Oak; Mrs. S. Pippin, Council Bluffs; Mrs. Jas. Garrison, Slayton, Minn., were present when the end came.

Mr. Snyder has for several years been a familiar character on the streets of our town, during which time he spent in retirement, and visiting around among his children. He was of a kind and pleasant disposition and was respected by all who knew him. He came to Mapleton from Harrison County in 1881 and was for a number of years engaged in the hotel business here.

Funeral services were conducted on Monday afternoon from the Presbyterian Church, by Rev, Alfred Martin, and the remains laid to rest by the side of those of his wife in Heisler cemetery. Mrs. Snyder died May 19, 1884. A delegation of Charter Oak friends were present at the funeral, namely: F.M. Loomis, A. F. Kadoch, A. J. Eggen, Casper Miller, Dr. Hart and Samuel Lyons.
