Lucile Marie Nun, 98, of Onawa died Friday, Feb. 10, 2012, in Onawa.

Lucile's body was donated to the Anatomical Board of Nebraska. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.

Lucile was born on Jan. 4, 1914, in Saline County, Neb., to John and Amalia (Endorf) Bartels. She was received into the kingdom of God's grace through the waters of holy baptism on Feb. 1, 1914. On April 10, 1927, she reaffirmed her Christian faith through the rite of confirmation. She graduated from Tobias (Neb.) High School. She studied medical laboratory courses under John C. Thompson in Lincoln, Neb. She was employed as a lab technician and office assistant at the Dr. O.C. Blattspieler Clinic at Tobias for four years. She later took nurses training at Lincoln General Hospital in Lincoln, graduating in 1938 as a registered nurse.

She was united in marriage to Edward Walter Nun on Jan. 30, 1940, in Tobias. God blessed this marriage with two daughters and one son. The Nuns lived in Minnesota for two years after their marriage. Lucile worked at a Worthington, Minn., clinic during the time her husband served in World War II. In 1946, they relocated to Ute, Iowa. Lucile taught Red Cross Home Care of the sick in Minnesota and Iowa. She was employed at Crawford Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, for 10 years and at Onawa Hospital and Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton, Iowa, on a part-time basis for five years.

Lucile was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church LCMS in Ute, the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and the Lutheran Layman's League.

She is survived by her children, Catherine (Nun) Retzlaff, Richard Nun, Jane (Nun) Schalk; and two brothers, Bernard J. Bartels and Donald Bartels.

She was preceded in death by her husband, E.W. Nun; her sisters, Helen (Bartels) Nolte, and Erna (Bartels) Schoenbeck; and her brother, Walter Bartels.
