Orville Hiram Hollister, 84, of Ukiah, Oregon, formerly of Rodney, Iowa, died on Friday, November 7, 1986, in a hospital in Pendleton, Oregon.

He was born on December 16, 1901, in rural Mapleton, Iowa, to Hiram and Edith (Carmen) Hollister. He was raised on a farm, near Rodney, Iowa, and attended the Barber Rural School. On October 5, 1924 he married Beatrice Chiles in Woodbury County. The couple lived at Climbing Hill, Rodney, Paulina, and Mapleton, Iowa: Glendale, California: and Salem, Oregon. An auto mechanic, he formerly owned a garage in Rodney, Iowa. Mrs. Hollister died on December 7, 1968 at Salem. Oregon. He recently had made his home with his daughter in Ukiah, Oregon.

He was a member of Jewell Lodge #368 A.F.&A.M. in Glendale. California.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Eloise King of Ukiah, Oregon; four sisters, Mrs. Roy (Mina) Moore of Sioux City, Iowa, Mrs. Francis (Elsie) Renshaw and Mrs. Orville (Dorothy) Thayer, both of Storm Lake, Iowa, and Mrs. Curtis (Margie) Harsh of Rodney, Iowa; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister, and his wife, Beatrice.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. at the William Funeral Home in Rodney, Iowa with Reverend Gary DeGeest officiating. The organist was Mrs. Sam Hallowell and the soloist was Mrs. Dick Hallowell.

Casket bearers were Claire Hewitt, James McDonald, Max Smith, James Davis, Frank Burkhart, and James Cleveland.

Interment was in the Grant Township Cemetery in Rodney, Iowa, with arrangements by the Willman Funeral Home, also of Rodney. Iowa.

Word was received by his sister. Margie Harsh that Orville Hollister died in a Pendleton, Oregon, hospital on Friday. November 7.
