Funeral Services Held Dec. 23 for G. Hollister

Funeral services were held for George David Hollister, 88, who died Friday at his home in Smithland, at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 23 at St. John's Methodist church in Mapleton. Rev. Byron W. Ayers officiated. Burial was in Grant cemetery under direction of the Walter funeral home of Mapleton.

Mr. Hollister was born Nov. 10, 1870 in Adams County. He moved to Monona, county as a small boy. He later lived on a farm in Woodbury County and moved to Smithland 10 years ago. On December 22, 1898 at Onawa he married Maude Edgar, who died June 24. 1946.

Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Glenn Dean of Alberta, Canada, Mrs. Kenneth McClure of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Roy Warnke of Paullina, Ia., and Mrs. George Dean of Mapleton; three sons, Donald of Smithland, Gilbert of Paullina and Niles of Hardwick, Minn.; two brothers, Hiram Rodney and Lester of Deer Lodge, Mont.; four sisters. Mrs. Lucy Chilton of Newport, Ore., Mrs. Nell McClain of Billings, Mont., Mrs. Myrtle Faust of Deer Lodge and Mrs. Ed Batman of Glendale, Calif.; 19 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.
