Former Onawa Man Takes His Own Life At S.C.
Paul Adkins, Former Onawa Man Takes His Life In His Home IN Sioux City. Had Been Employed By The Corp of Engineers And Had Spent Some Time In Alaska

Funeral services were held on Saturday, with burial made in the Onawa Cemetery.

Paul E. Adkins, son of Leonard and Cornelia Adkins was born May 29, 1912, at Onawa and passed from this life on Wednesday, November 18, 1959, at the age of 47 years, 5 months and 19 days. With the exception of the past few years, he had been a lifetime resident of the Onawa Community.

He had been employed by the Corps of Engineers as a boat operator where he worked for several years on the Missouri River. He had also worked on various building and other construction projects in the area and had recently been in Alaska in construction work.

He was united in marriage to Isabel Adams on May 15, 1932, at Moorhead, Iowa.

Mr. Adkins was a member of the First Christian Church in Onawa and a member of the Eagles Lodge in Onawa.

Survivors include his widow, Isabel; five daughters, Mrs. Harold Mohn and Mrs. Ivan Benson, both of Anchor Point, Alaska, Miss Dana, Linda and Janelle at home in Sioux City; one son, Jerry of Cincinnati, Ohio; eight grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Cornelia Adkins of Onawa; one sister, Mrs. Charles Priser of South Bend, Ind.; two brothers, Raymond and Harold Adkins, both of Onawa; and a number of other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 21st, at the First Christian Church in Sioux City. Rev. M Dwight Walker conducted the services. Mrs. Ray Allen was the organist. Casket bearers were Emil Alfredson, Edgar Thogersen, Vern McFee, Alvin Hyatt, Don Hall and Walter Lindell. Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home.
