7 December 2000Rodney, Iowa—Franza Pauline Champion, 84, of Rodney died Friday, December 1, 2000 at a Sioux City hospital.
Service4s will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton, Iowa, with the Rev. Karen Handke officiating. Burial will be in Little Sioux Township Cemetery in Smithland, Iowa. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Champion was born December 18, 1915 near Ute, Iowa, the daughter of John and Ethel (Browning) Lundeen. She grew up and was educated in the Ticonic, Iowa, area. She married William Howard Champion on April 7, 1937, in Onawa, Iowa. They farmed in the Grant Center, Iowa, area and later moved into Rodney. He died in August 1976. She remained in her home in Rodney until 10 years ago when she moved into Akron Care Center in Akron, Iowa.
She enjoyed reading and baking.
Survivors include two daughters, Joan and her husband , Donald Lewis of Battle Creek, Iowa and Gloria Champion of Onawa; a brother and his wife, Waldo and Freda Lundeen of Onawa; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Champion of Storm Lake, Iowa.
