Mapleton, Iowa—Ora Ione Miller, 75, of Mapleton, died Saturday, November 21, 1998 at Morningside Care Center in Ida Grove, Iowa.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton, with the Rev. Karen Handke officiating. Burial will be in the Little Sioux Township Cemetery, Smithland, Iowa. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Miller was born April 14, 1923 in Oto, Iowa, the daughter of Scott A. and Ora (Lucus) Green. She was raised in the Oto area, where she was baptized and attended school.

She married James E. Miller on January 9, 1939, in Bayard, Iowa. The couple made their home in Oto. In 1944, they moved to a farm in rural Sedan, Minn. They moved to Brooten, Minn. in 1957. She was empoloyed with several cafes. In 1961, they moved to Mapleton, where she continued to work at local cafes. In 1979, she was employed as a senior aide. In 1985, they moved to Vail, Iowa, and returned to Mapleton later that year. She went back to cooking as a senior aide until retiring in 1995. He died August 25, 1985.

She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Loren Hollister Post 496. She was president of the PTA in Minnesota, taught Sunday school in Oto and Sedan and played piano at the church.

Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Beulah and Lloyd Lea of Mounds View, Minn., and Gaylen and Michael Buck of Vail; two sons and their wives James A and Denise of Vail and Scott and Mary of Kansas City, Mo.; three brothers, Gale of Gayharbor, Wash., Scott and his wife, Bernice of Omaha, Nebr., and Norman and his wife, Doris of Sioux Falls, S.D.; a sister, Eva Muckey of Sioux City; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; a great-great grandson; a brother-in-law; numerous sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson and a son-in-law.
