14 October 2009Lola Jensen, 84, Onawa, Iowa, formerly of Soldier, Iowa, died Saturday, October 3, 2009 at Elmwood Care Centre at Onawa.
Lola was born January 27, 1925, at Jordan Township, Monona County, Iowa, the daughter of Jens P. and Carrie (Madison) Jensen. She attended school at Jordan #1 country school and lived on the farm with her parents near Soldier. They all moved to Onawa, Iowa in 1959, and she continued caring for her parents until their deaths.
Lola cleaned many houses and businesses in Onawa. She was always dedicated to her family and enjoyed baking and making candy which she shared with family and friends. She entered Elmwood Care Centre in 2003.
Survivors include a brother and his wife, Wilbur and Ruth Jensen of Soldier; two sister-in-laws, Edna Jensen of Castana, Iowa and Betty Jo Jensen of Kansas; nieces and nephews, Judy Hanson, Marilyn and Bruce Jepson, Leonard and Patty Jensen, Warren and Barb Jensen and Dwight Swenson, Paul and Stacy Jensen, Mary and Rick Davis, Jennifer Richardson and Carrie and Steve Davis and their families.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Viola and her husband Milfred Hanson; two brothers, Robert and Russell Jensen and a nephew Larry Hanson.
Funeral services were 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 9, 2009 at Soldier Lutheran Church with Pastor Jason Cooper, officiating. Music selections were the congregational sang “Beautiful Savior” and “Melisa Jepson and Anya Sibunka provided “What A Friend We Have In Jesus”. Visitation was at the church one hour to the service. Burial was in St Clair Cemetery at Ute, Iowa.
Casket bearers were Leonard Jensen, Rick Davis, Bruce Jepson, Paul Jensen, Dave Kruse and Dick Andersen. Honorary bearers were Dwight Swenson, Steve Davis and Warren Jensen.
Memorials may be directed to Burgess Hospice in Onawa.
