MAPLETON, Iowa -- Marjorie Anna "Marge" Nathlich, 75, of Mapleton died Saturday, March 30, 2002, at Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Mapleton, with the Rev. Scott Fiege officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Mapleton. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Mrs. Nathlich was born Nov. 8, 1926, in Charter Oak, Iowa, the daughter of August and Viola (Pautsch) Neddermeyer. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at St. John's Lutheran Church in Charter Oak. She received her education at St. John's Parochial School.

She married Orville Nathlich on March 7, 1948, at the church in Charter Oak. To this union one daughter was born. The couple lived and farmed for a time near Mapleton and later lived near Ute, Iowa, and in the Anthon, Iowa, area. Orville died Sept. 13, 1996. Marge moved back to Mapleton in 1998.

She worked as a cook in the Correctionville (Iowa) Nursing and Rehab Center for several years. She and her husband worked together for the Walter-Armstrong Funeral Home for 25 years, and were managers of the Anthon Community Center in Anthon. The couple also took the responsibility of picking up and delivering the Senior Citizen meals in Correctionville.

She was a very active member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Mapleton, where she served as a greeter, circle leader, and accounted for the financial donations after services. She also was a member of the Sunshine Club and the Neighborhood Casino, a group of friends with whom she enjoyed playing cards. She had a passion for gardening and took pride in mowing and maintaining lawns and yards with a love for the outdoors. Her greatest love, however, was found in her family.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Marlys and Wayne Dose of Holstein, Iowa; three grandchildren, Gail Lynn and her husband, Brian Kuester of Sioux City, Sheri Kay and her husband, Gerald Tarr of Ida Grove, Iowa, and Brett Wade Dose and his special friend, Lindsey Riley of Woodward, Iowa; a great-granddaughter, Erica Marlene Kuester; two great-stepgranddaughters, Josie and Liz Tarr; and three sisters, Phyllis Bockelman of Dow City, Iowa, Darlene and her husband, Charles "Bud" Dose of Anthon, and Julie Ann and her husband, Alan O'Neil of Redfield, Iowa.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Keith Wayne Dose; and a brother and a sister, both in infancy.
