ONAWA, Iowa -- The Rev. Mr. John R. Schlosser, 74, of Omaha, formerly of the Onawa and Turin, Iowa, area, died Saturday, May 10, 2003, at Hospice House in Omaha.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Rockbrook United Methodist Church in Omaha. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Friday at United Methodist Church in Reinbeck, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Heafey-Heafy-Hoffman-Dworak-Cutler Mortuary in Omaha.

He is survived by his wife, the former Joan Louise Zitt of Downers Grove, Ill., who was married to him in Downers Grove on Aug. 29, 1954; two children, John Robert of Omaha, and Julie, a research assistant at the University of Iowa; his youngest sister, Betty (Mrs. Robert Golden) of South Amana, Iowa; three brothers, Richard of Joliet, Ill., Arthur of Austin, Texas, and James of Kennewick, Wash.; three sisters-in-law; a brother-in-law; 12 nieces; eight nephews; and many cousins, friends and former church members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert A. and Amelia (Johnson) Schlosser; his two oldest brothers, Robert and Ellis; two brothers who died in infancy, Glen and Rollin; his oldest sister, Marie and her husband, Ray; and his youngest brother, Donald.
