Funeral services for Mrs. Newell Olson, 71, of Whiting were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 31 at the Methodist Church in Whiting. Rev. E.E. Epperson of the Onawa Christian Church officiated and burial was in the Whiting Cemetery under the direction of the Wood Funeral Home.

Mrs. Olson died Sunday, May 29 at Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa after a long illness. The former Effie Gunsolley, she was born October 16, 1894 at Onawa and married Mr. Olson on October 1, 1913 there.

She was a member of the Whiting Methodist Church and the Royal Neighbor Lodge, Camp No. 186.

Survivors include the widower; two sons, Raymond of Onawa and Donald of Sioux City; two daughters, Mrs. Dennis Hall of Sloan and Mrs. Robert Bogenrief of Hinton; a sister, Mrs. Minnie Anson of Onawa; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Music was furnished by Robert Bogenrief as soloist and Bernice Dahl, pianist. Pallbearers were James Hopkins, Elvin Manders, Augie Neldeberg, Robert Rowe, Dayle Ellis and Joe Jackson.
