Helene Mary Torticill, 54, of Dakota City died suddenly Tuesday, September 1, 1987, at her residence.

Mrs. Torticill, the former Helene M. Kruse, was born February 12, 1933, in Jackson, Neb. and graduated from South Sioux City High School. She married Leo J. Torticill October 28, 1950, in Elk Point, S.D. They lived in Iowa from 1950 to 1960 when they moved to Omaha. In 1965 they moved to Dakota City where she was a bookkeeper for Torticill Service Company Inc. of Dakota City.

Mrs. Torticill was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and Altar Society, Catholic Daughters of America and honorary member of Dakota City Firemen’s Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband, three sons, Leo W and Timothy E. both of South Sioux City and Jeffrey of Dakota City; four daughters, Mrs. Timothy (Cynthia) Harris of Homer, Nebr., Mrs. Mark (Josephine) Sedivy of Walthill, Nebr., and Mrs. Alvin (Helene) Kelly and Valerie A. Torticill, both of Dakota City, six brothers, Edward of Washington State, John “Jack” of Yankton, S.D., Joseph and Leonard both of South Sioux City, Charles of Jackson and William of Dakota City; two sisters, Mrs. LeRoy (Anna) Elsey of Sanger, Texas and Mrs. Paul (Mary) McGinty of South Sioux City and twelve grandchildren.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 5, 1987 in St Michael’s Catholic Church in South Sioux City. The Rev. James E. Fitzgerald officiated. The Rosary was recited Friday evening, September 4, 1987 at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City.  Burial was in St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery.
