25 October 2001UTE, Iowa -- Shirley Ann Nepper, 63, of Ute died Friday,Oct. 19, 2001, at the Dunlap Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dunlap.
Services were held on Monday, Oct. 22 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ute with the Rev. Scott Fiege officiating. Burial was in St. Clair Cemetery in Ute. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison, Iowa handled the arrangements.
Mrs. Nepper was born April 25, 1938, in Auburn, Iowa, the daughter of Otmar and Tena (Berns) Wenck. She grew up on a farm near Auburn. Her early education was in a rural school near her home and she graduated from the Glidden-Ralston Community High School with the Class of 1955. After high school, she continued her education in cosmetology at the Fort Dodge School of Cosmetology. After completing her education, she started her own beauty shop in Mapleton, operating it for several years before working in a restaurant and bar, serving as a waitress and tending bar. She also cooked for many years. She then joined her husband in the trucking industry, driving for Krajicek Truck Lines for the last 10 years.
She married Warren Nepper On June 22, 1962, in Glidden, Iowa. The couple settled in Mapleton and were blessed with the birth of two children. In 1966 they moved to Ute. Shirley relaxed at the piano and organ and enjoyed sewing, woodworking, other crafts, baking pies, flowers, gardening and visits with friends. She collected angels and Shirley Temple dolls. She was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother who had a special adoration for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Lori Head and her husband, John, of Ghent, Minn., Patti Miller and her husband, Wade, of Schleswig, Iowa; a son and his wife, Steve and Tara Nepper of Roanoke, Va.; her stepmother, Beatrice Wenck of Duluth, Minn.; two stepdaughters, Linda Gosch and her husband, David, of Charter Oak, Iowa, Donna Jacobs and her husband, Ray, of Las Vegas, Nev.; a stepson and his wife, Michael and Linda Nepper of Oto, Iowa; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elaine Schmeiser and her husband, Jack, of Glidden, Sharon Subbert and her husband, Jerry, of Scranton; and a brother, Duane Wenck and his wife, Kathy, of Lidderdale.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Ronald; two sisters-in-law, Sharon Wenck and Mary Lee Nepper; and an infant grandson, Quintin Nepper.
Pallbearers were Christopher Sparks, Lincoln Schmeiser, Dean Barngrover, Charles Wenck, Justin Nepper, Scott Barngrover, Ernie Schmeiser, Glen Barngrover, Gentry Nepper, Jeffery Sparks and Doug Nepper.
