Germaine "Gerry" LeFebvre, age 90 of Mapleton died Friday, June 9, 2006 in Mapleton.

Services were held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 13 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mapleton with Msgr. Mark Duchaine officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Mapleton. A rosary was held at 4:00 p.m. and a vigil wake service was held at 7:00 p.m. at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Gerry LeFebvre was born May 30, 1916, at Portsmouth, Iowa the daughter of Richard A. and Susan (Walker) Mester. At the age of 16, the family moved to Mapleton, Iowa where her father ran a grocery store, the Red and White. She worked at the store and graduated from Mapleton High School with the class of 1934. It was during this time that she met Dick LeFebvre, her future husband. After selling the store, Gerry helped move her parents to California where she lived for one year and worked at a defense plant.

Upon returning to Mapleton with her folks, Gerry married Edwin John "Dick" LeFebvre on September 25, 1945 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mapleton. She stayed with Dick's parents and worked at LeFebvre Market while he finished his time in the Army. Dick later purchased LeFebvre Market from his dad which they ran until 1975. Along with time spent in the business, Gerry was busy at home caring for their eight children. Dick passed away June 13, 1981. Gerry remained in her home until entering the nursing home in 2003.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mapleton along with St. Mary's Guild.

Survivors include her eight children, Michael and his wife, Connie, of Prescott, Arizona, Suellen Thompson and her husband, Richard, of Dripping Springs, Texas, Walter "Wally" of Mapleton, Thomas and his wife, Susan, of Mapleton, Edwin and his wife, Lois, of Omaha, Nebraska, Andy and his wife, Tina, of Oceanside, California, Rich and his wife, Amy, of Glendale, Arizona, and Mark and his wife, Dawn, also of Mapleton; 16 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and one brother, Richard Mester of Fort Calhoun, Nebraska along with numerous other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, Gerry was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and three brothers.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for the loving care extended to Gerry by Dr. Curtis Hesse and his staff, Siouxland Hospice, and Maple Heights Nursing Home.

Pallbearers were Michael LeFebvre, Suellen Thompson, Walter LeFebvre, Thomas LeFebvre, Edwin LeFebvre, Andy LeFebvre, Rich LeFebvre and Mark LeFebvre.

Arrangements were made under the direction of the Armstrong Funeral Home of Mapleton.
