Donald Kahrs of Meridan, Mississippi, died Tuesday, July 6, 2004. Donald Kahrs was born December 5, 1932 at Mapleton, Iowa, the son of Robert Kahrs, Sr. and Naomi (Lee) Kahrs.

He attended country school then Mapleton Public School, where he graduated with the class of 1951.

Don joined the Marine Corp. in September 1952. He had two tours of duty in Viet Nam. He retired after 20 years of service. He also worked for Bell Helicopter and lived in Iran several years, where he worked as a plane mechanic. After returning from Iran he lived in Meridan, Mississippi, and worked as a mechanic at the military base. He was retired.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Patricia; his mother, Naomi Kahrs of Mapleton, Iowa; his brother, Robert and his wife, Lenell of Minneapolis, Minnesota, one niece and two nephews of Minnesota.

Preceding him in death was an infant daughter and his father, Robert Kahrs, Sr.

He was cremated and additional services are being held in Meridan.
