ONAWA, Iowa - Lowell Edward Jenkins, 72, of Onawa died Thursday, May 7, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Pearson Funeral Chapel in Onawa with the Rev. Donald R. Ludwick officiating. Burial will be in Harrison Cemetery in Whiting, Iowa. There will be no visittion.

Mr. Jenkins was born Aug. 14, 1925, on a farm near Onawa, the son of Edward and Mary Lethabelle (Cummins) Jenkins. He attended school at Salix, Iowa until the 11th grade. During World War II he served in the Philippines. He married Norma Bernice Wagner Oct. 18, 1948. He was a farm laborer and worked for several farmers. He was manager and later, foreman, of the Onawa Coop and the Monona County Secondary Roads Department, retiring after 20 years of service.

He was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Onawa.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters and their husbands, Bonnie and Larry LaBrune, of Salix, Iowa, and Rebecca and Roland Heisterkamp of Onawa; two sons, James and his wife, Patricia of Sioux City, and Jerry of Onawa; five grandchildren, Tony LaBrune, Kristine Jenkins, Cinthia Jenkins, Joseph Heisterkamp, and William Heisterkamp; a brother and his wife, Glenn and Alice Jenkins of Sloan, Iowa; and a sister, Evelyn Jenkins of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Gilbert and Gordon.
