Laurence Polly, 69, of Whiting, died December 20th at Burgess Memorial Hospital. He had been a Custodian at the Whiting School for a number of years. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22nd at the Wood Funeral Home in Whiting. Rev E.E. Epperson officiated and burial was in the Harrison Cemetery under the direction of the Wood Funeral Home.

Laurence W. Polly was born August 6, 1902, at Whiting, Iowa and passed from this life in the Burgess Memorial Hospital on December 20, 1971. Death came at the age of 69 years.

Mr. Polly served the Whiting Community School for 21 years as custodian. He was active for a number of years on the Whiting Volunteer Fire Department and held the honor of being a past chief. At one time he played semi pro baseball.
On June 1, 1929 he was united in marriage with Ella Hughes at Onawa, Iowa. She preceded him in death.

Survivors include his one daughter, Mrs. Edward (Marietta) Weber of Council Bluffs, Iowa; four grandchildren; Don, Curt, Kenney and Shelly Weber; one brother Donald Polly of Burlington, Iowa a few other relatives and a number of friends.

Besides his wife he was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother, Russell.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 22, 1971 at the Wood Funeral Home in Whiting with the Rev. E.E. Epperson officiating. Nancy Brenden and Molly Rowe brought comfort in song accompanied by Nancy Linden. Bearers were Don Croker, Rex Kelley, Jerry Rowe, Neal Funkhouser, Robert Rowe and Cecil Rogge. INterment was in the Harrison Cemetery near Whiting.
