ONAWA, Iowa -- Max Vincent Nickolaisen, 76, of Onawa died Sunday, July 28, 2002, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, with the Rev. Mike Cahill officiating. Burial will be in Onawa Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Max was born Sept. 14, 1925, in Rodney, Iowa, the son of Clarence and Opal (Moss) Nickolaisen. He graduated from Castana (Iowa) High School in 1942.

He married Theresa Davidson on Feb. 21, 1947, in Onawa. The couple enjoyed 55 years of marriage until her death on Feb. 21, 2002.

He was a car sales manager for the Ford dealership in Onawa, where he was top salesman in 1964 and maintained that honor each year through 1968. He established Onawa Truck and Equipment in 1970, which he was still operating at the time of his death.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Stephen and Kitty of Blencoe, Iowa; a stepdaughter and her husband, Patricia and Bill Nielsen of Blair, Neb.; two grandsons, Jeremy Nickolaisen of Blencoe, and Tommy Nickolaisen of Little Sioux, Iowa; a stepgrandson, Robert Hardy; a stepgranddaughter, Robin Tierney; and two sisters and their husbands, Ruth Opal and Ed McIntosh of Bellevue, Neb., and Sally and Don Capitosta of West Bend, Iowa.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Edwin "Butch" Bennett, Norris Nickolaisen and Clarence Nickolaisen; and a half brother, Boyd Nickolaisen.
