ONAWA, Iowa -- Sandra Jean Parsons, 68, of Onawa died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008, at Creighton University Hospital in Omaha.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Onawa United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Catie Newman officiating. Burial will be in Onawa Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.

Sandra was born Dec. 9, 1939, in Onawa, the daughter of Earl and Dorothy (King) Klingensmith. She was raised in Onawa, where she attended school.

In 1957, she married Benjamin McClure. Later, she and her three children moved to Las Vegas, Nev., where she assisted her parent's operating the Seven-Eleven Garage.

She and Frank Parsons were united in marriage on Feb. 26, 1965, in Las Vegas. Later, they moved to Colorado and in 1994 to Onawa. She enjoyed caring for others, working at nursing homes and children's day care. She established Sandy's Day Care in Onawa until ill health forced her retirement.

She especially loved children and was known as Grandma to many. Her great-grandchildren all knew her as Grandma Grapes. She also enjoyed music, singing, playing the accordion and the spoons.

Survivors include her husband, Frank of Onawa; a daughter, Patricia (Darrell) Allen of Mapleton, Iowa; two sons, Edward McClure (Janice Hildreth) of Onawa and Robert (LeAnn) McClure of Turin, Iowa; a daughter-in-law, Pam Lofshult; stepdaughter, Debra Dawn; two stepsons, Thomas and Jeffery Parsons; grandchildren, Rebecca Watson, Mitchell and Matthew McClure, Bobbie Shearer, Shellie Nelson, Michael McClure, Corinna Rayevich, Sandra Jean Fisher and Nina Allen; five stepgrandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-stepgrandchildren; a brother, Earl R. Klingensmith of Onawa; several aunts and uncles; and a niece and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother, Gary Klingensmith; and an infant son, Frankie Allen
