Clara Martz

Clara M. Martz, age 84 of Ute, Iowa died Saturday, July 3, 2004.

Services were held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 7 at the United Methodist Church in Ute with Pastor Fred Pilecki officiating. Burial was in St. Clair Cemetery, Ute. Connie Bridgeman was the organist and the congregation sang, “The Old Rugged Cross” and “In The Garden”. A prayer service was held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 6 at the United Methodist Church in Ute.

Clara Mae (Hayes) Martz was born March 31, 1920 at Cumberland, Wisconsin to Silas Watson and Clara Nettie (Haines) Hayes. On October 15, 1943 she was united in marriage to Clarence (Jim) Martz.

During their 60 years of marriage, they farmed in the Ute area until 1998 when they moved into town.

Her life was her family. One thing she always looked forward to was sharing a laugh over a cup of coffee with friends.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ute.

Survivors include her spouse, Jim; a son, Don and his wife, Laura, of Ute; a daughter, Norma Mohr and the late Lester Mohr of Mapleton; five grandchildren, James R. Martz of Ute, Jessica Martz of Charter Oak, Iowa, James Mohr of Ames, Iowa, Russell Mohr and Jennifer Burbridge of Blencoe, Iowa and Lance Mohr of McCook, Nebraska; and two great grandchildren, Landon and Beau Mohr.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Joe, Elmer, and Harry Hayes and five sisters, Lillie Bridgeman, Mamie Scott, Elsie Bridgeman, Myrtle Brandon, and Ellen Hopkins

Pallbearers were J.R. Martz, James Mohr, Russell Mohr, Lance Mohr, Jessica Martz and Fred Jepson.
Arrangement were made under the direction of the Armstrong Funeral Home of Ute.
