Nancy Benson

Nancy Benson, age 45, of Danbury, Iowa, died Thursday, March 25, 2004, at Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.

Funeral services were held 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 29, 2004, at the United Methodist Church in Danbury, Iowa, under the direction of Christensen-Huffman Funeral Home. The Reverend Kathy Olson, officiated the service with burial in the Danbury Cemetery. Friends called at Christensen-Huffman Funeral Home in Battle Creek on Sunday from 6-8 p.m.

Born October 5, 1958, in Sioux City, Iowa, Nancy Ann Benson was the daughter of Ralph and Dorothy (Stowers) Barrs. She grew up and received her education in South Sioux City, Nebraska, graduating from South Sioux City High School in 1977.

Since 1986, Nancy made her home in Mapleton, Iowa, and in 1993, settled in Danbury. She earned her degree as an occupational therapy assistance from Western Iowa Tech and most recently was employed at the Sports Rehab and Physical Therapy Center in Storm Lake. ON July 3, 1993, Nancy received her first liver transplant.

She was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Danbury. Nancy enjoyed vacationing, her job, reading, and the simple pleasures of life.

Survivors include two children, Laura Benson and Michael Benson, both of Battle Creek, her mother, Dorothy Barrs of South Sioux City, Ne., special friend, Russell Treiber and his family of Danbury; a brother, Ralph Barrs of South Sioux City, Ne., four sisters, Linda (Frank) Schovaneck of Dakota City, Ne., Diane Kruse of South Sioux City, Ne., Patricia (Jimmy) Williamson of Lafayette, In, and Cindy Arndt of South Sioux City, Ne. as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father.
