Onawa Weekly Democrat 18Jan1900

A very pretty wedding occurred on Wednesday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E.E. Bakke, when Louise their eldest daughter and one of Onawa's highly respected young ladies, was wedded to Rev. S.A. Johnson of Elbow Lake MN. At exactly 6 o'clock the wedding march played by Miss Jennie Ballard sounded through the rooms, which gave note of the approach of the bridal party. Mr. Johnson and Miss Bakke descended the stairs attended by Miss Agnes Bakke, sister of the bride, and Mr. Godfrey Johnson, brother of the groom of Sioux Rapids. Here the ceremony was performed by Rev. Hjortholm, witnessed by nearly 60 friends and relatives. A delicious supper was served under the supervision of Mrs. Oscar Bakke. The waiters were Mrs. Neussel, Misses Anna Peterson, Emma Andrews, and Miss Kelly of Whiting. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson leave for their future home at Elbow Lake MN tonight where Mr. Johnson is pastor of the Norwegian Lutheran church. The out of town guests were Mrs. Amon Johnson, mother of the groom; Mr. and Mrs. H.A. Johnson, Miss Anna Johnson, Mr. Godrey Johnson, and Mrs. J.S. Barstad and daughter, all of Sioux Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. B.R. Mickelson of Linn Grove IA; Mr. A. Cyprianson of Eau Claire WI; Miss Aggie Bakke of Albaton who luckily caught the bride's bouquet; Mr. Gilbertson of Mapleton; Mrs. Durmon and Miss Kelly of Whiting; and Mr. and Mrs. Christopherson of Thor IA.
