Andrew Rapp Anderson born December 12, 1866, Bjuras, Sweden to Ander Rapp Anderson (1833-1916) and Anna Carlsdotter (1838-1876) was one of five children. At the age of ten years his mother, Carl, Olaf and Lena passed away leaving one sister, Anna (1862-1951). His father remarried (1881) Marta Hansdotter. They had three sons, Hans Eric (1882-1965), Per Gustav (1884-1954) and Carl John (1885-1966).
On May 16, 1887, Andrew left his Sweden home for Castana-Mapleton, Iowa. He worked as a farm hand and purchased a first farm in Jordan Township from Thomas and Nancy cork, at Castana, Iowa.
On March 6, 1890 his only sister, Anna married (1883) in Sweden to Samils Anderson (1862-1893) and their three children, Anna (1884-1914); Andrew (1885-1961); Karin (1888-1952) arrived at Castana, Iowa from Bjuras, Sweden. Walfred born (1890-1966). One infant daughter (1892) and Samils Anders passed away (1893). For the next twelve years Andrew cared for his sister Anna and her four children on his second farm, Belvidere Township, Turin, Iowa. Anna moved to the ‘40’ farm, Eric Sundberg, Sweden, joined her family.
On August 5, 1905, Andrew married Selma Amelia Anderson, born March 15, 1874. They had two children, Floyd Andrew, born July 21, 1906 and Lillie Sophie born February 12, 1912. The family continued living in the Woods Hollow farm (1905-1943) when Andrew fell and his lengthy hip injury caused his death, January 30, 1943. Selma passed away December 29, 1950. Floyd passed away December 31, 1973. Lillie married Arthur Merril Johnson, July 9, 1939. They have four children, Judith, 1940; Janet, 1940; Jon, 1941; Janice, 1944; six grandchildren, and still live in Turin.
Andrew and Selma’s farm home (1892-1981) is still owned by the family. Lillie and her daughter, Judith, visited her father’s home in Rappgarden, Sweden, near Bjuras, Sweden (1979) where her only cousin, Ida Rapp Erickson, still lives. Lillie S. Johnson.
