The Frans Anderson Family, p 93

Frans Emil Anderson was born June 24, 1864 in Sweden. He grew up there and then came to America as a young man. Frans lived with his older brother, Charles Lundeen, on Charles’ farm near Smithland. Frans met and married Mabel Allen.

Mabel Maude Allen, the daughter of Norman Allen and Rosana Charlotte King, was born August 10, 1880 near Smithland. She and Frans were married February 7, 1898 at Mapleton.

Frans and Mabel had six children. Their first two were Harold O. and Charles P., both born near Smithland. Harold was born in 1900 and Charles was born in 1901. Their next two children were born in Ticonic. They were Albert V., born in 1903, and Roy K., born in 1905. Frans’ and Mable’s last two children were born at home on a farm located six miles west of Castana. They were Beulah L., born in 1909, and Allen A., born in 1913. Frans passed away on February 10, 1923, at the age of 58.

Mabel with the help of her four children, continued to farm after the death of Frans. Besides taking care of the farm, Mabel loved to go fishing, and she loved to grow plants and flowers. Mable had to leave the farm in the 1960s due to her health, and lived in Onawa until the time of her death on December 9, 1972. Mabel passed away at the age of 92, leaving to mourn her passing, her six children, 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 12 great- great- grandchildren. Submitted by Michael A. Snyder.
