Floyd Forrest Bouslaugh born April 5, 1900 the son of Thomas and Maude Barrett Bouslaugh of Castana, Iowa. Floyd attended school there and worked as a farmer in early years. He married Mary Raiser and their children were: Robert Floyd born May 2, 1920, died 1980; Ernest Harold born July 6, 1921; Alice Marue born Sept 17, 1922; died 1967; Clifford Allen born Nov 19, 1923; Blanche Irene born Dec 12, 1924. Mary passed away Feb 1925.
Floyd continued to farm and with aid of domestic help kept his family together. His mother assumed the care of the baby. He married Allie Zediker on Sept 12, 1928 at Dakota City, Nebr. Allie’s life made an abrupt change from mother of one—Jack O’Neill born March 14, 1927 by a previous marriage—to a growing brood of six; from a city girl to a farmer’s wife, with chores, cooking for threshers, butchering time and all the duties of rural living. This petite little lady of 5’2 accepted the roll and has devoted her entire life to her husband and family. Allie was born Dec 19, 1907 at Mapleton the daughter of Lewis and Charlotte Heisler Zediker of Mapleton-Cooper Twsp. She was schooled in Mapleton and was employed in various cafes and as a domestic. Floyd and Allie moved to Decatur, Nebr. in 1934 where he worked on the river. In 1937 they returned to the farm at Castana. In 1944 they moved to Onawa where he drove semi truck for Dr. J.S. Deering’s freight line. This line was later sold to Tom Lindley, back to Dr. Deering and later to George King of Onawa. In Feb. 1952 he was employed by Iowa Master Breeders, trucking supplies and baby chickens to 5 states in the area. In 1959 with his own truck he hauled for Clark Gravel Company and also a gravel company in South Dakota. Later janitorial duties with Swanson’s in Omaha, Nebr. In 1969 he worked for Keitges Candy Company in Onawa until he retired in 1974 due to failing health. He passed away on May 3, 1975 and is buried in the Heisler Cemetery at Mapleton. Of the children, only Jack remained in Monona County. He married Nina Blake on March 4, 1937 the daughter of Ruth Blake. Their children; Audrey Lee born Oct 19, 1948; Jaclyn Neal born Feb 3, 1952; Carol Ann born May 5m 1954; Donald born April 28, 1960. He has remained in Onawa and married Jolene Haynes the daughter of Arthur and Sharon Haynes and their daughter is Christa born on Nov 19, 1980. Allie continues to make her home in Onawa.
