Timothy Elliott, an old pioneer of the county, was born in Norfolk County, Mass., October 12, 1819, and after attaining manhood engaged for eight years in school-teaching. He then entered the ministry of the Universalist Church, where he remained eight years more. He came to Monona County in 1855, and removed here the following year, and settled at Onawa in 1857. In 1861 he embarked in the mercantile business, which he still carries on.
