Arthur Rice Died
After Long Illness;
Life-Time Osager

Arthur Rice 73, passed away last Friday, after a long illness from a complication of diseases.
Mr. Rice spent his entire life in Osage, and was known to all as a conscientious, hard-working man.

He was born on a farm a mile north of Osage, December 1, 1862 the son of L.D. and Sarah Rice, who came to this county from Ohio as one of the pioneer families.

Arthur was one of thirteen children. He grew to manhood on the farm, and later moved to Osage.

His entire life was spent in Osage and Mitchell county, where he plied his trade of bricklayer and stone mason, as long as his strength permitted.

On July 5, 1889, he married Augusta Smith, and to this union four children were born; Edna, who died in infancy; Mrs. Everel Hayenga, who died in 1919; Chester and Smith, Osage, who with their mother survive him. There are also four grandchildren and two brothers - John, of Linksville, Wis., and Charles, of Douglas, Wyo.

Death came as a blessed relief from the trials and sufferings of this life on January 2. Mr. Rice was a kind husband and father, and is sorely missed in his home circle by his friends.

Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon at 3:30, conducted by Rev. John D. Kern at the Champion Funeral Home, and burial was made in the Osage cemetery.
