Riceville Soldier Boy Dead
Riceville has been called upon to mourn her first soldier dead, Private Roy Gue, at Camp Dodge. Roy Gue is the first strictly Riceville soldier boy to give his life for the country’s cause.
He was taken with pneumonia soon after entering camp and passed away last Saturday. His mother had been with him for two weeks previous to his death.
Interment was made yesterday at the Camp Dodge military cemetery with military honors. A number from here went to Des Moines to be present.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born in Riceville in Feb. 6. 1893 and died May 21, 1918. He is buried in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Des Moines, IA.
