The most important event which has transpired since my last, is the death of one of our oldest and best citizens, Mr. Artemus Judd. He died on the evening of the 4th inst.

Mr. Judd was about 78 years of age. He has lived in Brownville twelve years, was a man of unblemished character, and I can say of him what can be said of too few, that he lived and died without an enemy, was always kind and courteous, and ready to aid in everything that was right, and will be remembered long by the people in this vicinity as a most exemplary and useful man. Note: burial in Beaver Creek cemetery, Brownville, aged 77y 9m 8d, died 3/7/1878. Sharing his gravestone is Hannah Judd, aged 82y, died 2/21/1886
