Terry Lee Geffert, 57, lifelong resident of St. Ansgar, IA, passed away Monday, February 3, 2020 in St. Ansgar.
Terry was born on August 31st, 1962, in Osage, IA to Arleigh and Bonnie (Yocum) Geffert. Terry graduated from St. Ansgar High School with the class of 1981.
On March 9, 1985, Terry was united in marriage to Kimberly Reeder in Northwood, IA. To this union three children were born, Laura, Nathan and Kelli. They were later divorced.
Terry’s greatest joy in life were his daughters and grandsons. He loved watching them play sports, very proudly having never missed a game. His yard was full of every motorized toy you could think of for Cale and Layton to ride year round. In his younger years he was known to frequent softball diamonds in the area and never had to run the bases much due to his home run hitting skills. Fishing and hunting were his other passions. He enjoyed many years taking trips to Leech Lake, Baudette, Devils Lake, Alaska and Canada with his lifelong buddies.
Terry is survived by daughters, Laura Geffert (Brad), Kelli (Nick) Finholdt; grandsons Cale and Layton Finholdt of Austin, Minnesota; sisters Shelley (Jeff) Allison of Marble Rock, IA, Vicki (Gary) Miller of Rogers, AR; brother Brian Geffert of St. Vincent, MN; niece and nephews Jeremy, John and Chris Bierbrodt of Iowa, and Travis and April Miller of Arkansas; his Anderson’s Cove family and several close friends. Also survived by his beloved dog Peanut.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Nathan, in infancy; brother-in-law John Bierbrodt; paternal grandparents Alfred and Selma Geffert, and maternal grandparents Glenn and Bernice Yocum.
Visitation will take place Friday, February 7 from 4-7pm at Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home in St. Ansgar. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 8 at 10:30am at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Toeterville.
Fish on, Dad. Blessed be your memory, we will carry you in our hearts forever.
