Iver Johannes Nelson was born March 13, 1866 at Spring Prairie, Columbia, Wisconsin to Niels Om (or Odd) Himle Nelson and Inga Ivarsdatter Syse (Olsen), the second of their nine children.

He was baptized in Columbia, Wisconsin.

Iver's siblings were: Britta Oline; Katrine Marie; Emma Josephine; Albert Oscar; Emelia Nicolene; Johannes Levinus; Oscar Bertinius; and Bertina Jennie.

Family found in the 1860 census living at Leeds, Columbia, Wisconsin: Odd Nelson 54, Betsey Nelson 55, Maria Nelson 24, Nels Nelson 19, Inger Nelson 13.

His family moved west and settled at Rock Grove, Floyd County, Iowa.

Found in the 1880 through 1930 Censuses living at Rock Grove, Floyd, IA:

1880: Nels O. Nelson 38, Enga Nelson 38, Iver Nelson 14, Kate Nelson 11, Emma Nelson 9, Albert Nelson 6, Emelia Nelson 4, John Nelson 2, Ella Johnson 15, Cathn. Knudeson 25.

1885: Nels O Nelson 43, Enga Nelson 43, Iver Nelson 18, Catharine Nelson 16, Emma Nelson 14, Albert Nelson 11, Amelia Nelson 9, Oscar Nelson 4, Bertina Nelson 2, Betsey Nelson 83.

1895: Iver Nelson age 28.

Iver Nelson was confirmed at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church on April 24, 1881.

He married Marith Foshold on May 4, 1902 at the RCLC, Meroa, Iowa. The couple had 2 children: Ethel Johanna (June 22, 1903 - August 20, 1923) and Ira Melvin (December 7, 1906 - April 16, 1971). (both children born at Rock Grove, Floyd, IA)

1910 Census: Ivan N Nelson 44, Mary Nelson 33, Ethel J Nelson 6, Ira M Nelson 3.

1915: Iver Nelson age 49.

1920: Iver W Nelson 53, Mary Nelson 43, Ethel J Nelson 16, Ira M Nelson 13.

1925: Iver N Nelson 59, Mary Nelson 49, Ida Nelson 18.

1930: Iver N Nelson 64, Mary Nelson 54, Ira M Nelson 23.

Iver Johannes Nelson died May 23, 1938 at Rock Grove, Floyd, Iowa and was buried at the RCLC Cemetery, Meroa, Iowa.
