Berdene "Bert" Heck

Berdene “Bert” Heck, age 84, of Osage, Iowa, went to be with the Lord on April 12, 2019.

Graveside services for family and friends will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2019, at the Osage Cemetery with Pastor Gary Gilbert officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.

Berdene was born April 14, 1934, in Osage, Iowa, the daughter of Gordon and Carlene (Wigant) Wright. Berdene was united in marriage to John Heck on September 23, 1952, in Osage. Her passions included love for her children, birds, dogs, and playing bingo. She also enjoyed listening to Iowa Commission for the Blind recordings, listening to old country music and talking with friends and family. She had fond memories of performing with the Kitchen Clatter Group.

Berdene is survived by her daughters, Charlene (Donald) Vickers, Luella Mueller, and son Joe (Brenda) Heck; her grandchildren, John (Lindsey) Heck, Valerie (Brian) Bailey, and Lavonne (Bob) Sletten; great-grandchildren, Courtney Bailey, Carrigan Sletten, and Cadence Sletten; sisters, Janice Riker, Leanna Miller, and Maxine (Ed) Sholly; brothers, Lowell (Kathy) Wigant and Melvine Wigant; and many other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John in 1991; and brother, Maylon Wigant.
