Osage, Iowa - Lavern S. Mueller, age 81, of Osage, died Wednesday, February 6, 2019, at Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 11, 2019, at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville, Iowa, with Father Raymond Burkle officiating.
Burial will be at Visitation Catholic Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Hale Penney Fuller Post #569 of Stacyville. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville.

Lavern was born on December 7, 1937, to John and Elizabeth (Thome) Mueller on the family farm near Stacyville. He attended Sacred Heart Elementary in Meyer. Lavern received his GED while serving in the United States Army, after his discharge, Lavern took over the family farm.
On September 4, 1965 he married Gloria Olson in Rochester, Minnesota. They made their home on the farm by Stacyville. Their three children, Kris, Jeff and Phillip, were raised on this farm. During Lavern’s farming years, he enjoyed many hobbies such as playing softball, singing in the Forte Milers and also loyally serving on the REC board. Lavern and Gloria moved to Osage in 1993.
He then worked at Wallace until he retired. Lavern enjoyed his retirement by attending area dances, golfing, building things for his sons, tinkering with his tractors and attending his grandsons’ events. He also enjoyed making strawberry pies and sharing them with the many people in Osage. Lavern was a gentle and caring man who will be deeply missed by his kids, his grandsons, and the many friends he had.
Lavern is survived by his daughter, Kris Mueller, his son, Jeff (Tammi) Mueller and their sons, Gabe and Gavin, his son, Phil (Wanda) Mueller and their son, Joshua; siblings, Elmer, Maxine, Irene, Delphin, Anita and Mary; and many nieces, nephews and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Gloria in 2016, siblings, Viola, Marvin, Emil, Evelyn, and Cyrilla.
