Marvin George Moe, age 91 of Austin, Minnesota, joined his beloved wife, Luella Moe and son Dale, in heaven Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at The Waters on Mayowood in Rochester, Minnesota.
He was born March 26, 1927, to Walter A. and Matta M. (Sinn) Moe in St. Ansgar, Iowa. Marvin was baptized into our Lord’s family on July 3, 1927 at St. Ansgar Methodist Church, and was confirmed on December 15, 1950 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar. He graduated from St. Ansgar High School in 1945.
During World War II, he served in the United States Army as bandsman and chief clerk for the 324th Ordinance Training Center Band in Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. Staff Sergeant Moe was released from active duty on October 31, 1946.
After his service, Marvin attended the American Institute of Business College in Des Moines, Iowa until June 1948, and was employed by Hormel Foods Corporation as a payroll accountant from July 1948 until his retirement in April 1991. On December 17, 1950, he married Luella Mae Jordan at Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar, Iowa.
In 1950, shortly after their marriage the couple moved to Austin and together had four children: Dennis, Dale, Cynthia, and Alan.
Marvin was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Austin, and a former member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church where he served as President and Elder, and on various church committees. He enjoyed singing with the St. John’s and Holy Cross choirs, and served as Scrip Coordinator for Holy Cross Lutheran School from September 1998 through June 2004. Marvin will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. As a follower of Jesus Christ, he is now rejoicing and we know we shall meet again.
