Dale Shoger, 88, of Osage, died Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 13, 2018, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Osage with the Rev. Bruce Kaltwasser officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery, with Military Honors by the Osage American Legion Post 278. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Friday at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.

Dale was born June 12, 1930, in rural Osage, the son of Fred and Gladys (Olson) Shoger. He graduated from Plymouth High School in 1948. Dale served his country in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955.

On November 6, 1954, he married Kathryn Dieterichs at St. John’s Lutheran Church in rural Osage. Dale farmed south of Osage until retiring in 1992 and moved to Osage.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Osage American Legion, and volunteered at the Food Bank. Dale had served as a board member at the Osage Coop Elevator, Faith Lutheran Home and Sunny Brae Golf Club. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, woodworking, golfing, fishing, playing cards and cribbage, baking cookies and roasting the Thanksgiving turkey. He was known for his willingness to lend a helping hand and being a meticulous caretaker of his farm, home and lawn.

Dale is survived by his daughters, Linda (Ken) Brandau of Rudd, Donna (Bob) Counsell of Osage, and Marcia (Jim) Rosendahl of Osage; eight grandchildren, Dustin (Pavithra) Counsell of Boston, Massachusetts, Darin (Amber) Counsell of Forest City, Nicole (Mitch) Wigern of Osage, Kimberly Brandau of Council Bluffs, Lucas (Brittany) Brandau of Rudd, Megan Rosendahl of Chicago, Illinois, Lars (Bruna Bertozzo) Rosendahl of Orlando, Florida, and Hakkon (Ashley) Rosendahl of Osage; nine great-grandchildren and a tenth expected in December; sister, Darlene Anderson of Osage.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Kathryn in 2012; a brother, Duane in 1964, and a grandson, Daniel in 1989.
