Alverna M. Miller, 89, of LeRoy, Minnesota, died Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Marys Campus-Rochester.

Alverna Margaret Durben was born May 3, 1929, in Meyer, Iowa, to Arthur and Louise (Weber) Durben. She was united in marriage to Elmer Miller on October 6, 1948, in Meyer. Alverna enjoyed spending time golfing, playing cards, bowling, dancing, quilting and decorating wedding cakes. She was an avid reader and was a big supporter of the LeRoy Library. She was a member of the St. Patrick’s Alter Society for many years and was also in the Birthday Club, Garden Club, and the Red Hat Society.

Alverna is survived by her children, Judy Miller of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Gene (Rita) Miller of LeRoy, Jerry (Mary) Miller of Rochester, Minnesota, Alan (Laurie) Miller of Clear Lake, Iowa, Rick Miller of LeRoy, Dave (Jodi) Miller of LeRoy and Pam (Frank) Ehmke of Grand Rapids, Minnesota; grandchildren, Matthew Albert, Andrea Albert, Lori Miller-Beach, Lisa Krapf, Kari Miller, Eric Miller, Molly Miller, Brett Miller, Jenna Helmick, Jill Malloy, Tony Miller, Nate Miller, Daniel Miller, Michael Miller, Mark Miller, Kyle Ehmke and Ryan Ehmke; 17 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Aniceta (Kenneth) Overrocker of Austin, Minnesota, Eileen Koenigs of Adams, Minnesota, and Lester (Ann) Durben of Meyer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer, in 2009; brothers, Stan Durben and Ambrose Durben; and daughter-in-law, Janice Miller.

Funeral Mass for Alverna will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2018, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in LeRoy with Father Marreddy Pothireddy officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, July 13, 2018, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and will continue for one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
