Gregory "Greg" Stark

January 28, 1965 - July 2, 2018

Greg Stark, age 53 of Riceville, Iowa passed away Monday, July 2, 2018, at his home in rural Riceville. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, July 6 at Lindstrom Funeral Home in Riceville with Pastor Dan Christensen officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Riceville. Friends may call from 4-7 pm on Thursday, July 5 at Lindstrom Funeral Home in Riceville.

Gregory Dean Stark was born January 28, 1965 in Riceville, Iowa, the son of Dean and Helen (Louvar) Stark. Greg’s love for farming began at an early age, following his Dad around the farm every chance he could.

In 1975, at age 10, Greg put his farm knowledge to great use. He was able to shut off the tractor and help free his father whom was tangled in the shaft of the silage wagon, saving his life. He later received a “Lifesaving Award” for his efforts from the VFW. He graduated from Riceville High School in 1984.

On July 17, 1993 he married Laura Hinders at the Congregational Church in Riceville. During their years together they enjoyed farming, working and traveling. Greg also loved orange tractors and Ford pickups. His greatest love was being a father and grandfather.

Greg is survived by his wife, Laura of Riceville, Iowa; two sons: Joe (Amber) Koenigs of McIntyre, Iowa and Tony Koenigs of Mason City, Iowa; his parents: Dean and Helen Stark of Riceville; one sister, Susan (Steven) Busta of Lawler, Iowa; one nephew, several nieces and many cousins. Greg was preceded in death by his brother, Larry.
