April 16, 1948-June 14, 2018

NORTHWOOD, IOWA – After sharing 70 wonderful years with family and friends, Ron Bruggeman, died peacefully at his home on June 14th, 2018 after a long and bravely fought battle with cancer. Ron was born on April 16th, 1948 in Osage, Iowa to Maxine and Lawrence Bruggeman. He learned his most important lessons and formed his hard-working manner in his early years on the family farm in Toeterville.

From an early age, Ron became interested in motorcycles, and much to his mother's chagrin, he purchased a 1966 Honda S90 motorcycle with his hard earned money on his 18th birthday. To name all of Ron's motorcycle collection and trips would take up the entire page, so trust us when we say his interest turned into a lifetime of passionate riding that took him as far as the Arctic Circle and Europe.

Upon graduation he served in the Army in Albuquerque, NM, and he took great pride in his service in the Defense Atomic Support Agency. In 1966 Ron married his high school sweetheart, Jeanne McPhail, and they shared 51 years of love, devotion, and friendship. Ron and Jeanne made Northwood, Iowa their family home and Ron served Worth County's farmers, businesses, and residents through Northwood Electric, Inc. He enjoyed helping his community with his time and talents, and spread his volunteer spirit in Guatemala and Mexico during mission trips as well. As a devoted Christian he always put faith and family first.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jeanne, adoring children Cathy (Rob) and Brian (Virginia), and three special grandchildren: Jordyn, Jackie, and Jared Braun, devoted sister Gloria(Richard), brother Lawrence Jr.(Carol), and brother Darwin(Lori).

He is preceded in death by mother Maxine, father Lawrence, and infant sister Shirley.

Please join in celebrating Ron's life for visitation on Monday, June 18th from 4 to 6 p.m. at Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home in Northwood and for the funeral on June 19th at 10:30 a.m. at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home.
