September 16, 1934 - January 14, 2018

Osage, Iowa - Marlys Grace Kuehne, age 83, of Osage, died Sunday, January 14, 2018, at Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage. Cremation has taken place.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 27, 2018, at United Church of Christ in Osage with Pastor Charles Owens officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date. The family will greet friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the Church. Following services, there will be a time for lunch and fellowship in the church hall.

Marlys was born in rural Ackley on September 16, 1934, the oldest child of Otto H. and Grace (Huisenga) Kreimeyer, sister to Lester and Betty.

She attended Etna#3 country school in Hardin County until she began high school in Ackley. Marlys transferred to Geneva High School her sophomore year graduating in 1952. She attended Hamilton Business College in Mason City graduating in 1954.

Marlys married Richard L. Kuehne on September 9, 1961 in Mason City and to this union three children were born Doug, Jay and Janet. She worked first as an executive secretary and later as a department manager at Klipto Printing Company in Mason City for seven years. Marlys then became a stay-at-home mom and farmer's wife.

After her children graduated from high school she began working as a typesetter and writer at the Mitchell County Press News in Osage, retiring in 2008, after 22 years of employment. She was a member of the United Church of Christ. Marlys received several commendations on her poetry.

Marlys is survived by her husband, Richard Kuehne; her sons, Doug (Deb) Kuehne and Jay (Melinda Taets) Kuehne; her grandchildren, Alaina Kuehne (Christopher Lambertz), Greg (Danielle) Kuehne, Cole Kuehne, Bradie Kuehne and Jacey Kuehne (fiancé Justin Tuel), Nathan and Taylor Spitz and their father, Bob Spitz; two step-grandchildren, Thurston and Desmund Taets; two great-granddaughters, Scarlette and Delilah Kuehne; sister and brother-in-law, Betty (Lynn) Meyer.

Marlys was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Janet in 2011; and brother, Lester in 2003.
