DEATH OF WILLIAM E. PIKE AT AUSTIN
After an illness of but three days William E., son of Edwin and Diana Pike, died at Austin, Minn., at 10:30 o'clock p.m. April 6, 1925. He was laid to rest beside his aged parents in the Ogden cemetery at Otranto Wednesday, April 8th.
William E. Pike was born at the old home in Deer Creek township on April 17, 1876 and was married to Stina O. Steenson in the year 1903. He was a member of the St. Olaf Lutheran church at Austin, Minn., in which he had made his home for the past twenty one years.
Mr. Pike leaves to mourn his loss a loving wife and three children, as follows; Gladys aged 12 years, Glen aged 10; Irving aged 3 years.
He was of a family of twelve children, seven of whom are living. They are: Lucy Turner, of Brewster; Mary Ogden and Walter G. of Otranto, Iowa: Mrs. Kate Pace of Austin, Minn; Fred G, Ellwin R. and Mrs. Alice Finch of Meltonville, Iowa.
Mr. Pike was a good citizen and although living away from this vicinity for nearly a quarter of a century his old friends remember him most kindly and deeply regret his passing. He was a loving husband, a kind father and brother, a true home lover and filled with an earnest and commendable passion for doing kind deeds for his lived ones.
