William R. 'Bill' Demro
July 29, 1934 - January 6, 2018
William R. (Bill) Demro passed from this life on January 6, 2018 while a resident at Faith Lutheran Home in Osage, Iowa.
Bill was a private, moral and unpretentious man. Per his wishes he was cremated and there will be no services.
Bill was born the 5th child to Paul S. and Ruth (Usher) Demro on July 29, 1934, in Nashua, Iowa. After growing up on the river, he graduated from Nashua High School in 1953. Bill was united in marriage to Darlene Larson on August 15, 1955 in Charles City, Iowa. Bill graduated from the St. Louis College of Mortuary Science and worked in that field for a short period.
He soon entered the petroleum industry and worked at Waterloo Service Company in Waterloo, Iowa for a number of years before going to work at Co-Op Oil Company in Osage, Iowa where he served as general manager from 1969 until his retirement in 1992. While under his management, the Co-op in Osage was one of the original test markets for ethanol in the state of Iowa. Bill was active in the Petroleum Marketers of Iowa and won the Bucket Box Award which was an unusual accomplishment for someone in the cooperative industry.
Bill is survived by his wife, daughter Janet of Harlingen, Texas, his sons, Paul (Nancy) of New Hartford, Iowa, and Eric (Kaete) of Celina, Texas, grandson Thomas (Tanya), granddaughters Madeline and Charlotte and a great-grandson, Cooper.
Bill was predeceased by his parents, his brothers, Ronald (Ruth) and Stuart (Mickey), an infant brother, Paul, his sisters, Marian (Ernest) Maulsby and Pauline (Dean) Shultz, and many other relatives.
Bill enjoyed fishing with his brothers and cousins, reading and history. He was an avid and astute investor and saver, quick to take credit for his successes and equally quick to assign blame for the other(s).
