June Jahnel, age 91, of New Haven, Iowa, died Monday, December 11, 2017, at Faith Lutheran Home in Osage, Iowa.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 15, 2017, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in New Haven with Father Mark Murphy officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in New Haven. Visitation with body present will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.

June was born July 26, 1926, in Osage, the daughter of Fredrick and Ida (Hartwig) Havig. She graduated from Osage High School in 1944. On June 7, 1947, she married James Jahnel at Sacred Heart Catholic in Osage. June was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and St. Peter’s Altar Society. She was known for her apple pies and chocolate chip cookies. June was an artist, painted, carved, and cross stitched. She was generous in sharing her many talents. June loved nature, watching birds, fishing and gardening. She was an amazing woman and we are thankful to have been loved by her.

June is survived by her seven children, David Jahnel of Cedar Rapids, Bill (Gloria) Jahnel of Toddville, Barb (Larry) Berg of Oakdale, Minnesota, Dennis Jahnel of North Liberty, Mark Jahnel of Orchard, Kevin Jahnel of New Haven and Carolyn (Kelvin) Palsic of Osage; 15 grandchildren, Chad Jahnel, Michelle Kitterman, Kyle Jahnel, Tina Serra, Tally Stanley, Tom Berg, Tim Berg, Erin Dyson, Jeff Jahnel, Lisa Soifer, Brad Jahnel, Monica Jahnel, Michael Palsic and Casey Palsic; many great-grandchildren; sister, Fern (Jim) Hughes of Riceville; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James in 2002; and sisters and brothers.
